ARTNEWSPRESS: Alright boys and girls, time to kick the tires and light the fires as a brand new trailer for TOP GUN: MAVERICK has just landed online!
1986 saw the release of director Tony Scott’s iconic action drama TOP GUN. The film was the ultimate bromance movie, chock full of aerial dogfights, topless beach volleyball scenes, and more Kenny Loggins than anyone thought was humanly possible. It also catapulted Tom Cruise to superstar status and was a box office smash, raking in over $350 million worldwide.
Thirty-four years later audiences will once again enter the world of Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Cruise), when TOP GUN: MAVERICK zooms into theaters next summer. This time out Maverick will be mentoring Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller), the son of Mav’s late best friend and flying partner NIck “Goose” Bradshaw. The film is said to focus on the end of the dog fighting era as drones become more prevalent in modern aerial warfare.
TOP GUN was on continuous rotation in the VCR when I was growing up. I watched that film constantly. I never thought I actually needed a sequel but damn if this thing doesn’t get me pumped! Makes me want to run out and do a flyby on someone so they can spill their coffee.
TOP GUN: MAVERICK starring Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Thomasin McKenzie, Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez, Monica Barbaro, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, and Ed Harris sonic booms its way into theaters June 26, 2020.
