The Festival Secretariat, a division of Farabi Cinema Foundation, is in charge of planning, organizing and staging Fajr International Film Festival. Organized since 1982 by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in February every year, on the anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Fajr International Film Festival is the most important film event in the country and presents not only the cream of the local cinematic productions, but also offers a representative selection of films from all over the world. In fact Fajr Festival functions as a bridge between film communities from the East and West.

Awards

International:

  • Crystal Simorgh for the best Film,
  • Crystal Simorgh for the best Director,
  • Crystal Simorgh for the best Script,
  • Crystal Simorgh for the best Actress,
  • Crystal Simorgh for the best Actor,
  • The Jury’s Special Award to Outstanding Artistic Contribution in the categories of camera, editing, music score, costume or set design

Rules

  • The films should be completed from 2018,
  • World premiere films and international premiere films are of higher priority respectively,
  • The films should not have been screened in the previous editions of the festival.
