Warner Bros.’ Wile E. Coyote Film Drops an Anvil on a Director

ARTNEWSPRESS: Warner Bros.’ Wile E. Coyote film has found its director.

According to Variety, Dave Green will direct Coyote vs. Acme, a live action-animation hybrid film centered around the Looney Tunes prairie wolf, who is best known for chasing his nemesis Road Runner. Acme is the name of the corporation that provides Coyote with his arsenal, although none of its weapons have helped Coyote succeed in his crusade.

Green’s most recent project was 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which was a sequel to 2014′ Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesOut of the Shadows earned over $245 million worldwide. Green also directed Earth to Echo, which made $45.3 million off a $13 million budget.

Jon and Josh Silberman are set to write the film, with Chris McKay (Lego Batman) set to produce. Along with their work on CBS’ Living Biblically, Jon and Josh Silberman have previously worked on shows such as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Bordertown and Deadbeat. This will mark the first feature for the writing and producing duo.

The character Wile E. Coyote made his debut back in 1949 in an episode of Loony Toons titled “Fast and Furry-ous.” This was his first attempt to capture the Road Runner — something he continually fails at, despite his extensive planning and devices from the Acme Corporation.
