Reacher Star Alan Ritchson Says He ‘Would Love to Play Batman!’

Artnewspress: Alan Ritchson, the beefy leading man from Amazon Prime’s excellent Reacher series has proclaimed on the record that he would love to play the Dark Knight: “I would love to play Batman!”

Ritchson made those comments in a video for his Hollywood Reporter cover story that recently published. It is literally the first thing he says when the video plays and he added: “There I said it! I’ll shout it from the rooftops. I want to be Bruce Wayne!

The actor has been outspoken about his strong desire to bring the Dark Knight to life on the big screen. Best known for playing Jack Reacher on the hit Amazon series, Ritchson has been quite vocal about his desire to take on the mantle of the Caped Crusader.

Ritchson cites Batman’s intelligence and gadget mastery as major draws. “Here is the thing about Batman, you know what his superpower is? Intelligence! Dude is the smartest superhero there is! He’s inventive and he’s got all the gadgets but he’s super smart,” Ritchson said.

Ritchson also relishes the idea of exploring Batman’s iconic lair and vehicles adding: “I want to be that guy and also to have like a cave with hyper cars, sports cars and also motorcycles.”

The search is on for the next big-screen Batman following Ben Affleck’s departure from the iconic DC Comics role. As James Gunn and Peter Safran map out their new vision for the DCU, including the upcoming Batman: The Brave and The Bold reboot, Ritchson has officially thrown his hat into the ring, again on the record.

Ritchson is no stranger to comic book adaptations. He’s previously portrayed Aquaman in Smallville and Justice League: The New Frontier, as well as Hawk in Titans. Ritchson has even extended outside of the DC Universe, playing Raphael in Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films.

Batman is also far from the only character Alan Ritchson has been called on to play in James Gunn’s DC Universe. Many fans think he’d be perfect to return as Aquaman now that Jason Momoa has been bumped from the role. There are also others who want him to portray Booster Gold in his upcoming MAX series.
