The latest updates: It’s the final Oscars predictions and it’s as wide open (and confusing) as ever. We might see a “normal-looking” lineup that’s been echoed by many of the guilds, or we’re going to witness an awards season anarchy, where snubs and surprises will come nearly everywhere. Of course, there will be anything in-between.

The complete list of predictions is below where Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” is forecast to lead with 10 nominations. At the same time, Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog” and Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” are expected to pick up an impressive nine and seven nods each. Campion herself sits on the precipice of making history once again. While she was the second woman to be nominated for best director for “The Piano” (1993), the film also stands as the first film nominated for best picture, which was solely written, directed and produced by women. Only two others have followed – Debra Granik’s “Winter’s Bone” (2010) and Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women” (2019). She would be the first woman to be nominated a second time if nominated for directing.

Kenneth Branagh’s “Belfast,” the presumed frontrunner for best picture, is also likely to score a healthy seven mentions (or eight if Jamie Dornan can make the cut alongside his co-star Ciarán Hinds).

There seem to be about five or six films vying for two spots in best picture, with the same repeating in acting categories. As always, we can assume some shocking misses (i.e., Amy Adams in “Arrival,” Tom Hanks in “Captain Phillips” or Paul Giamatti in “Sideways”).

Friendly reminder: all predictions on the 2022 Oscars Collective are in alphabetical order. Go to the individual pages to see the rankings (they are updating throughout the day). Make note of the updated date at the top of each page.

NOTE: All final credits are determined by the Academy and will be announced with nominations on Feb. 8.
