Christian Bale On His MCU Knowledge Prior To Joining ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’

Artnewspress :

Christian Bale revealed what he knew of the Marvel Cinematic Universe before joining Thor: Love and Thunder.

Christian Bale became the second Batman actor to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and one of the many who has an Academy Award to their name when he signed on for Thor: Love and Thunder. To no one’s surprise, Bale delivered an excellent performance as Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder.

What Does Bale Know?

But just because Christian Bale joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t mean he is as invested in it as Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani. In fact, Bale previously admitted that he didn’t even know what MCU stood for. While speaking with Empire, the Thor: Love and Thunder star did reveal one of the few films he had seen:

“When I joined this, Taika said to me, ‘What do you know about the Marvel Universe?’ I said, ‘I saw one of the films where there was a big bloke looking for stones.’”

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor solo film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
