Netflix has announced that The Witcher season 3 has started production and they’ve released a photo from the snowy set of the film. They also released an official plot summary for the next chapter of the fantasy story. Check it out:
As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.
The Witcher season 3 will see Henry Cavill return as Geralt, with Freya Allan coming back as Ciri and Anya Chalotra reprising her role as Yennefer. The series also stars Jodhi May as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina, Emma Appleton as Renfri, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Joey Batey as Jaskier, Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Maciej Musiał as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara), and Anna Shaffer as Triss.
Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich recently shared that the upcoming season will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s Time of Contempt, which is the second novel in The Witcher saga.
There’s no release date for this upcoming season of The Witcher, but the fans are definitely excited about what’s coming.
