James Gunn Teases Possible Return Of Margot Robbie As Harley Quinn

Artnewspress :

The Suicide Squad writer/director James Gunn teased the possible return of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

Although The Suicide Squad was a box office disappointment for Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films, James Gunn‘s standalone sequel to the 2016 film by David Ayer was acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. In particular, the film’s take on Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) was widely praised, and some are eager to see her return to the role in some capacity.

Well, it appears that fans are not alone in that regard. Recently, James Gunn shared a behind-the-scenes photo of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in The Suicide Squad. A fan replied to his tweet of the photo expressing hope to see her return in one of his upcoming DC Extended Universe projects, to which he replied with the following:

When will we see Harley Quinn again?

The DCEU is a franchise that has a mixed reception overall from critics and some audiences alike. However, it’s not without its acclaimed elements. One of those elements that has received near-universal acclaim is Margot Robbie’s portrayal as Harley Quinn. Given that James Gunn certainly has a big future with DC, including Season 2 of Peacemaker on the horizon, it will be exciting to see if he will reunite with Robbie again in bringing Dr. Harleen Quinzel back to the screen.

Here is the synopsis for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad:

Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Tinashe Kajese, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Alice Braga, Juan Diego Botto, Joaquin Cosio, Storm Reid, and Taika Waititi.

The Suicide Squad is available on, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital, while Peacemaker is streaming on HBO Max.
