‘Game Of Thrones’: Kit Harington Came Up With Idea For Jon Snow Spin-Off

Artnewspress :

Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin and Emilia Clarke revealed the Jon Snow spin-off was Kit Harington’s idea.

HBO is developing several Game of Thrones spin-off shows, with House of the Dragon kicking off the new era for the franchise in August. While it was expected that the time before the original Game of Thrones series would be explored, news broke last week that Kit Harington would return as Jon Snow in a series set after season eight.

Jon Snow Returns!

Following the report of the Jon Snow sequel series, Emilia Clarke confirmed the news to Variety and revealed that it was Kit Harington who came up with an idea to do a new Game of Thrones series centered on Jon Snow:

“He has told me about it. And I know it exists. It’s happening. It’s been created by Kit as far as I can understand, so he’s in it from the ground up. So what you will be watching, hopefully, if it happens, is certified by Kit Harington.”

Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin also confirmed that a series following Kit Harington’s Jon Snow was in the works and also shared the working title as “Snow” in his personal blog:

“SNOW has been in development almost as long as the other three, but for whatever reason it was never announced and it never leaked… until now. Yes, it was Kit Harrington who brought the idea to us. I cannot tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet, but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific. I aminvolved, just as I am with THE HEDGE KNIGHT and THE SEA SNAKE and TEN THOUSAND SHIPS, and all the animated shows. Kit’s team have visited me here in Santa Fe and worked with me and my own team of brilliant, talented writer/ consultants to hammer out the show.”

Here is the synopsis for the upcoming spinoff series House of the Dragon:

Based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, the series will tell the story of House Targaryen (a.k.a. the House that gave us the Mother of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen) and take place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan J. Condal serve as co-showrunners on House of the Dragon and are executive producing alongside George R. R. Martin. The series features a star-studded cast that includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, and Paddy Considine, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, and Sonoya Mizuno.

House of the Dragon will premiere on August 21 on HBO. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming Jon Snow series, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
