Taika Waititi Confirms He Won’t Be Involved In Potential ‘Thor 5’

Artnewspress: It seems as though Marvel is once again reinventing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thor: Love & Thunder director Taika Waititi has confirmed he won’t be involved in a potential Thor 5.

Rumors that Marvel Studios and Taika Waititi would split for a potential Thor 5 have been circulating for the past few weeks. In a recent interview, Waititi confirmed he won’t be returning to the franchise anytime soon, but holds no ill will toward Marvel.

“I wouldn’t know if that’s accurate,” Waititi told Business Insider during an interview for his upcoming project Next Goal Wins. “I know that I won’t be involved…I’m going to concentrate on these other films that I’ve signed on for.”

“So that’s six, seven years gone,” Waititi continued. “I’d imagine another ‘Thor’ would be a lot sooner than that…But I love Marvel, I love working with them. I love Chris.

“I would never feel like they are cheating on me,” He jokes “We’re in an open relationship, and it’s like if they want to see other people, I’m happy for that. I’d still get back into bed with them one day.”

While Thor: Love & Thunder is still a sore spot for Marvel fans, Taika Waititi is still one of the freshest minds in Hollywood, and it would have been a treat to see his take on Thor 5. Regardless, it seems as though both Marvel Studios and Waititi are headed in different directions. Hopefully, it will turn out for the best for all parties involved.

Hercules v Thor: Dawn of Thunder?

Taika Waititi’s comments regarding the MCU’s plans for Hercules are quite interesting. When you factor in the fact that recently, numerous titles were trademarked for Marvel Studios, one of those was Hercules: Rise of the Gods. Whether or not this is referring to a new film or TV series remains unknown, but this trademark was also listed alongside now-confirmed titles such as Captain America: New World Order, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor solo film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
